Who We Are (Ontario Royals)

PrintWho We Are
The Ontario Royals Baseball Club

The Ontario Royals Baseball Club, founded in 2003 as the Oakville Royals, is a College-Prep Baseball Program.  We are one of the longest-standing elite baseball programs in the Province, operating for the past 17 years, helping over 160 players get placed at the college level.

Our goal is to maximize the potential of every player - through player development/coaching, as well as opportunities and exposure.

LEAGUE - CBPL
The Ontario Royals compete in the Canadian Premier Baseball League (CPBL) against other top programs across the province, as part of the best high-school baseball league in the country.

Our "yearly cycle" begins in June/July when we form our rosters/hold tryouts for the upcoming fall, off-season, and summer. In early September, our Royals teams begin formal team activities.

FALL BALL
All Royals teams play a full "Fall Ball" schedule, beginning after the Labour Day weekend, playing and practicing through until Thanksgiving weekend. Our 15U and 16U programs undertake a full schedule that includes two practices per week and 2-4 games per weekend.

Our 18U program offers a full schedule of exhibition games against College/University competition - both in Ontario (against OUA opponents) and in the US (against NJCAA/NAIA/NCAA opponents). This provides the dual function of playing high-level competition as well as providing players with recruitment opportunities.

LEAGUE PLAY
The season runs from the first weekend in May until the final weekend in June, 4 games each weekend which allows for a 28-32 game Ontario schedule.  17U/18U opening weekend is a Showcase Tournament - a highly scouted event for the June MLB Draft as well as Junior National Team selection.

TRAVEL
In July, our Royals teams begin their US travel season - each age-level competes in at least three US-based tournaments, generally running Thursday through Sunday (4-5 game guarantee). This provides our players with valuable exposure to college recruiters,  competition against high-level programs,  and valuable experience learning about travelling as a team and the associated responsibilities.
